Why you should chose your tribe wisely!
I’m sure you’ve heard the theory that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with right?
We are hugely influenced by the people we’re closest to.
It affects decisions we make, how we feel about ourselves, how we think about things and how we behave as a result.
How do you feel when you’ve spent time with a ‘fun sponge’…drained right? More negative? It can happen literally in a matter of minutes!
We pick up other people’s energy…so surround yourself with people with good energy to feel good!
Who do you spend your time with?
Think of the top 5 people you currently spend your time with, do they lift you up or are they more like a Harry Potter dementor literally sucking the positivity out of you?
Do they encourage you or put you down and make you doubt yourself?
Do they add to or subtract from your life?
Do you feel like you’re the one always making the effort?
Are you clinging onto an old friendship when it’s clear that you’re values are different now and you have less in common?
Sometimes you have friends that you feel like don’t support you and you can never put your finger on why.
Often they are actually jealous and are thinking about what it means for them if you achieve what you want so they subconsciously (or consciously in some cases) drag you back down and make you feel like you can’t achieve something so you then can’t move forward.
Know anyone like this? Get rid or limit your time with them, that’s no friend of yours.
Values change as we get older.
As we get older we often find that people we’ve known a short time can become our closest friends, that’s because usually we are attracted to people with the same values and often cling on to old relationships that don’t serve us anymore.
Get clear on who the top 5 people you DO spend your time with and the top 5 people you WANT to spend your time with based on who you want to be and do what you can to make it happen.
Can’t think of any? How can you find some?
It WILL make your life better.
Here’s a few more reasons to choose wisely:
It raises your vibrations
Having the right people around can get you out of a funk pronto and keep you in a higher emotional state, which attracts more of the same back to you…bonus!
Happiness is contagious
We feed off other people’s energy, have you had one of those moments when someone starts giggling and you catch it and end up in a heap on the floor with no idea what you’re laughing about….yeah that! It works with other energy too!
Quality over quantity
Your tribe may decrease in size but that’s ok…because it will increase in quality and you will have closer, better relationships.
Less social engagements means less stress and more time for you!
This in turn will make you more productive and happier.
If you want to be outstanding surround yourself with outstanding people.
They will inspire you, encourage you and lift you up…what more could you want? Think about what you want and who you want to be and surround yourself with people like that.
YOU will be more positive.
Hallelujah! You will be nicer to be around, more productive, feel more confident, more successful…the list is endless!
What do you want to achieve, who would encourage you to get there vs who would tell you you can’t?
If YOU want to be more positive, surround yourself with positive people, it’ll rub off on you I promise!
Who you spend your time with really does directly influence the person you are. Who lifts you up vs brings you down?
Need to upgrade your tribe?
Need an upgrade on your tribe? I’ve created a brand new facebook group for just that.
